Brady close to clinching £2m move to Tigers

Hull City were last night closing in on a permanent deal for Manchester United winger Robbie Brady.

The Republic of Ireland youngster has spent the last two months on loan at KC Stadium, proving an instant hit in their growing promotion bid.

He is now expected to complete a move – believed to involve a £2m transfer fee – after undergoing a medical in East Yorkshire and his acquisition should serve as a huge boost to the Tigers’ push for the Premier League.

Hull, meanwhile, have also been linked with another raid on Old Trafford.

Highly-rated prospect Ryan Tunnicliffe, 20, made his Red Devils debut against Newcastle United earlier this season but has not featured since.

Sir Alex Ferguson has retained him as part of his first-team squad but is now thinking about offering the youngster a chance of regular football elsewhere.

Tunnicliffe spent time on loan at Championship club Peterborough last season and Hull, Reading, Leicester City, Burnley and Wolves are among those likely to be battling for his loan signature now.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield Town’s Kallum Higginbotham could be allowed to leave on loan again after failing to command a regular slot at John Smith’s Stadium.

Scottish Premier League side Motherwell are favourites to sign the forward who initially moved to West Yorkshire from Falkirk 12 months ago. However, he has made just four league appearances for the Terriers and not featured with them at all this season.

The 23-year-old was on loan at Carlisle earlier this campaign having also been on loan with Barnsley last term and could now be returning north of the border to Motherwell.

Higginbotham has been training there recently and he is envisaged as a replacement for Jamie Murphy, who joined Sheffield United last week.

The Blades, meanwhile, appear to be willing to let David McAllister leave Bramall Lane.

The 24-year-old Irish midfield is poised to rejoin Shrewsbury Town and United manager Danny Wilson said: “David needs to play first-team football at this stage of his career.

“In fact he deserves to play regularly because he’s got a great attitude and is a smashing lad.

“Unfortunately, though, that’s not something we can guarantee him at the moment and I’ve been honest with the lad and let him know that.”
