Sheffield United were held to a scoreless draw against Gillingham in League One at Bramall Lane.

The Blades came close to a stunning start when Che Adams grazed the crossbar with goalkeeper Stuart Nelson beatem.

Sheffield United.

Sheffield United.

Nelson had to be alert to claw away a curled shot from Adams, as the Blades made a bright start to the match.

The Gills should have gone in front when Deji Oshilaja headed over from six yards out.

United thought they should have had a penalty when Ryan Flynn went down under the challenge of Nelson, but referee Rob Lewis waved away the appeals.

Matt Done headed over when well-placed at the back post, as United pushed for a goal in the second half.

Paul Coutts delivered some superb crosses all afternoon, the pick of them coming on 75 minutes which just evaded Sharp and Adams in the box.

With the clock ticking down, Adams poked wide and for all their chances, United could not find the back of the net.
