Sheffield United 3 Oxford United 0: Evans on target for Blades in FA Cup

A FIRST half double from Ched Evans and a third from substitute Ryan Flynn gave Sheffield United a comfortable first round victory over Oxford United in the FA Cup, writes Ian Appleyard.

Evans struck in the 15th and the 20th minutes and would have bagged a hat-trick but for two quality saves by Oxford goalkeeper Ryan Clarke.

Substitute Flynn wrapped things up in the 72nd minute - scoring his first goal for the Blades with a close range volley after goalkeeper Clarke missed a high ball.

Blades legend Alan Hodgkinson, now goalkeeping coach with Oxford at the remarkable age of 76, received a tremendous reception from home supporters prior to the game.

That apart, it was a largely forgetable afternoon for both Hodgkinson and Oxford manager Chris Wilder, who is a lifelong Blades supporter and former player at Bramall Lane.
