Sheffield United bid for former AC Milan target Antonee Robinson accepted, according to reports

The Blades are looking for greater competition at wing-back next season, while Wigan need to sell players after going into administration this summer, and suffering relegation to League One as a result.

Sky Sports are reporting they have met the 23-year-old's buyout clause, which was activated in the event of relegation.

Robinson saw a move to AC Milan fall through in January, reportedly after he failed a medical, and West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion are also thought to be interested.

Blades wing-backs Enda Stevens and George Baldock were Premier League ever-presents last season. Ben Osborn was signed to compete with Republic of Ireland international Stevens, but played every game but the last after making his full league debut against Tottenham Hotspur in July in his preferred position on the left of a central midfield three after the resumption.

Baldock's deputy Kieron Freeman was released this summer at the end of his contract. The Blades have been linked with Nottingham Forest's highly-rated Matty Cash, but are yet to agree a deal for the defender, whose value is in eight figures.

Sheffield United are working on a reduced budget this summer as a result of covid-19. Manager Chris Wilder estimated the pandemic had cost his club £20m-£30m, and they are also committed to a new headquarters building for their Shirecliffe training complex, which is being constructed off-site and is due to be installed ready for use in the new year.

Their only signing to date has been free agent goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.
