Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder on striker search

SHEFFIELD UNITED manager Chris Wilder has expressed his delight at the Blades' frenetic spate of transfer activity and is now aiming to top things off with the addition of a new centre forward.

The 'explosion' of transfer deals that Wilder predicted last week has already transpired in the shape of four signings with Derby duo Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe, West Brom forward Oliver Burke and Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu having all joined the club.

Wilder has one more piece of business to tick off to 'complete the set' in the shape of another forward acquisition, with Liverpool's Rhian Brewster being their number one target.

The Blades have held talks with Anfield officials regarding the England under-21 international striker, on the wanted list of several clubs.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is yet to decide upon the future of Brewster.

On the Blades quartet of arrivals, Wilder - whose side start their second Premier League campaign on Monday with a home encounter against Wolves - said: "Pound for pound when the window is shut and the players are in place, I will be delighted.

"It has so far been a really good one. We have had to be patient in this window, but I am delighted to get the players over line this week. Hopefully, there's another one to complete the set.

"Hopefully it will be sooner than later. If we have to wait a little bit for that one, I am sure the wait will be worth it.

"There are players on that list - whether loans or permanent (signings). There's a pecking order on that one (first choice), but we are confident that we can get the one we want. If not, we are confident that other players will find Sheffield United an attractive proportion and be within our budget.

"The two young boys from Derby have been outstanding and everyone has been so impressed with them so far since they have come into the building.

"They are not here to make the numbers up. They are two young players who will hopefully be here for a lot of years. The immediate challenge is to get into the team.

"Speaking to them, they want to get into the team as early as possible and I want them to have that attitude.

"They have all the attributes we looking for in terms of athleticism and being modern-day wing-backs. They also have the personalities to want to play in the Premier League as soon as possible. That 's how it has got to be and it's game on."
