Sheffield United have Aaron Ramsdale bid rejected according to reports

Sheffield United have reportedly had a bid “in excess of £12m” rejected for their former goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, suggesting they are not confident of keeping Dean Henderson at Bramall Lane.

The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan from Manchester United, and the Blades would like him back for 2020-21 but with doubts about the Red Devils' goalkeepers, that may not be possible.

David De Gea has become error-prone over the last two years and his erstwhile deputy, Sergio Romero, has been linked with a number of clubs, including Leeds United this summer. The Argentinian is in the final year of his contract.

Chelsea are also said to be considering a big bid for Henderson.

Wes Foderingham has joined Chris Wilder's side on a free transfer this summer, but is seen more as a back-up.

The Blades have been linked with Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir for some time, and Ramsdale is an obvious choice to replace Henderson if needed. The 22-year-old started his career at Sheffield United before a £1m move to Bournemouth in January 2017. He has established himself as first-choice goalkeeper but the Cherries' relegation makes them vulnerable to losing their best players.
