The Blades kicked off their last home league match, against Brighton and Hove Albion, with the news that John Fleck has committed to stay at the club until the summer of 2023.

Talks are still progressing with a number of others, and Wilder said on Thursday morning he was optimistic there could be more news in the next 48 hours.

“We keep going and we hopefully might have a bit of news in the next 48 hours regarding one of the players, so that's another ticked off,” Wilder revealed. “It does take time and I'll say the same things – I do believe all the boys we’re talking to will want to commit and if we keep ticking them off one by one, week by week, then I’ll be delighted.”

Enda Stevens, John Lundstram and John Egan are in talks over new deals. The plan is to move on to the likes of Chris Basham and Oliver Norwood once they are completed.

Despite being taken to extra-time by Reading on Tuesday, Sheffield United have no fresh injury concerns for Saturday's game.

“Enda is fit. Flecky (John Fleck) is fit, there were no risks on Tuesday,” said Wilder after leaving both behind for the FA Cup fifth-round away game. “Wanted to see Sander (Berge) in that (holding midfield) position and we were delighted with his performance. It was a tough night and a stern test.

“The skipper (Billy Sharp) is fit and he scored (the winner in midweek), Oli McBurnie got (59) minutes under his belt.

“It wasn't ideal to have extra-time and Armageddon around the ground getting away (the exit onto the M4 to get back to Sheffield was closed) but that's what recovery are there for. It’s a state of mind as far as I’m concerned, players want to play. I'm sure everyone will be fit and raring to go.”

Norwich had two good results last week, beating Leicester City, then knocking Tottenham Hotspur out of the FA Cup on penalties on Wednesday. Written off some time ago, they are now two wins from Premier League safety – although their goal difference is vastly inferior – and Wilder is not expecting an easy afternoon against the only side to finished above them in last season's Championship.

“Norwich have been consistent in their performances all season,” said Wilder. “It is a fine line and (what happens in) the penalty box is the difference.

“They're a dangerous and talented side, we know a lot about them and two wins all of a sudden they’re bang amongst the group above them.

“We saw at Watford, they got a few results and climbed out of it all of a sudden.

“It's a dangerous game in terms of the quality and the drive they will have, everyone wants to be in the Premier League and they’ll be doing everything in their power to stay there. There are 30 points to play for and they can take them off anyone.”

Wilder was speaking for the first time since the Blades were drawn at home to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals. They have taken four points off the Gunners this season, although they look a different prospect now Mikel Arteta has had time to get his ideas across as manager.

“It was happy when that two ball (Sheffield United) came out straight away and it was a home tie,” said Wilder. “If you look at the quality and the league positions of the teams left in the competition, we were always going to get a difficult team so we're happy with that.”
