The former Blades defender has stepped up from his coaching role to take charge of the first team after the sacking of David Weir eight days ago.
He failed to prevent United slipping to a 3-2 defeat at Coventry City last Sunday, but hopes to halt the slide when Port Vale visit Sheffield on Saturday.
“I’ve not had any timelines,” he said. “But I’m loving it.

“In the summer I was gutted not to get it but I gave Davie my full support because that’s what it’s about.
“I’ve spoken to people with more experience and you learn from every single game.
“Some things you do differently and others you don’t. You keep them the same.
