Sheffield Wednesday 2 MK Dons 2: Owls held by nine-man Dons

Gary Megson started his Sheffield Wednesday managerial career today with a draw against nine-man MK Dons at Hillsborough.

Midfielder Darren Potter was suspended after being sent off the Owls in the midweek defeat at Peterborough United but there was no place in the matchday squad for loan signing Isaiah Osbourne, who is yet to make his debut, due to a virus.

Defender Jon Otsemebor (calf) and goalkeeper Nicky Weaver (knee) missed out, meaning a second start for the Owls of youngster Arron Jameson. Ironically, Jameson's only other appearance for Wednesday came against the Dons, in the 4-1 away win at the Dons in November.

But Jameson was picking the ball out of his own goal in the first 20 minutes after he delayed coming out for a long punt through and conceded a penalty. Peter Leven converted the spot kick.

And it was 2-0 after 27 minutes when Keanu Marsh-Brown crossed and Daniel Powell flicked it beyond Jameson.

In between James O'Connor twice came close, first thwarted by goalkeeper David Martin, then glancing the top of the crossbar.

Dons were reduced to 10 men after 37 minutes when Gary MacKenzie was red carded for two bookable offences.

Substitute Neil Mellor reduced the deficit on 69 minutes after a driving run from Giles Coke.

And Clinton Morrison popped with a close-range finish to equalise on 82 minutes.

Leven was red carded after hacking down Daniel Jones as he raced clear late on.
