Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith has returned to training after a back injury, meaning head coach Carlos Carvalhal has a fully-fit squad to choose from for Saturday’s South Yorkshire derby with Rotherham United.

Only Fernando Forestieri is missing for Wednesday - the striker starts a two-match ban, following his two yellow cards against Hull City last Friday night.

“At the moment, we don’t have any injuries,” said Carvalhal. “It is good. Joe Wildsmith has started training now. We have a full squad. It is just Fernando who is out. We are strong. We are with a full squad.

“We are more strong when we have a full squad. We have more players available.

“In December-January, we were missing seven or eight players. We missed a lot of players.

“We have three games next week and we need guys who can be with good energy to help the team.”

After Saturday’s derby, the Owls make the long trip down to Brighton on Tuesday night before travelling to Nottingham Forest the following weekend.

The Owls are currently sixth in the Championship, nine points adrift of automatic promotion.
