The Senegalese international - a summer signing from Marseille - tweeted a picture from his hospital bed saying “successful surgery and end of the season”.
Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal refused to confirm Sougou’s assessment of his unlikely return this season, but confirmed he would need time to recuperate.

“We will see when he will recover.
“We want to be with all the players but these things can happen.
“Modou is a fantastic professional. He’s a very good colleague. Everyone likes him and we wish him a speedy recovery as he’s an important player in our squad.”
