Sheffield Wednesday remain hopeful over Gary Hooper injury ahead of Huddersfield Town clash

Hooper sustained an injury to his hamstring in training last week and missed 2-1 defeat against Fulham last weekend - the final game of the conventional Championship calendar.

The Scottish striker, who has scored six times in 24 appearances this season, flew to Spain this week to receive specialist treatment and Carvalhal revealed he had returned to light training.

Wednesday face Huddersfield Town in the first leg of the play-off semi-final at the John Smith's Stadium on Sunday with a noon kick-off.

On Hooper's injury concern, Carvalhal said: "He's outside, he's not inside.

"It's not a problem so heavy that we thought at the beginning.

"When I say a player's outside, it means he's not inside the medical department like he was before.

"He's running, he's touching the ball. Let's see his reactions in training and if he can recover faster than we thought at the beginning."

Wednesday have won all four meetings with Huddersfield since Carvalhal took charge including a 1-0 win at the John Smith's Stadium earlier this season.

"It is not important on the past, it is just about these two games," added Carvalhal.

"To us, it's a game we will try to do our best. We will do what we have done last two seasons. We know they are not an easy team to play against.

"We are workers. We go back to work, focused, to run and fight a lot. We will be ready for the game.

"We respect them. We know they will be a threat. When we play our football,w e are not an easy team to play against."
