Wiggins has struggled for appearances for the Owls since joining them in August 2015, finding it difficult to force his way into the first team picture. He made his debut in the 4-1 League Cup win against Mansfield Town in the same month.

Wiggins made only eight appearances in the league for Carlos Carvalhal’s side during his time at Hillsborough.

The 28-year-old left-back has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Bournemouth, running until June 2018.

It will be Wiggins’ fourth spell at Dean Court, having spent two periods on loan with the south coast club prior to joining them on a permanent basis in 2010.

He then joined Charlton Athletic in 2011, earning a place in the 2012 League One PFA Team of the Year while at the Valley.

Wiggins has been capped 10 times by Wales’s under-21 side, last appearing in 2008.
