Sheffield Wednesday sign Plymouth defender

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY made their first signing of the January transfer window last night by signing centre-half Reda Johnson from League One rivals Plymouth Argyle.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has signed a three-and-a-half year deal after making 49 appearances for Argyle since signing in March last year.

He also has three international caps for Benin.

"He is a young, athletic defender who I have been aware of for some time," said Owls manager Alan Irvine.

"He is composed on the ball, very strong in the air and in the tackle."
