Coronavirus all-clear for Sheffield Wednesday's weekend hosts Nottingham Forest

Forest carried out the tests within hours of learning owner Evangelos Marinakis had tested positive for the virus.

Marinakis was reportedly seen shaking hands with Forest players before their 3-0 defeat against Millwall on Friday, prompting fears the Forest players would need to self-isolate.

The Greek businessman also owns Olympiacos, whose Europa League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday will be played behind closed doors.

Olympiacos have gone through the same process, and confirmed all its football staff, board members and staff have also tested negative for the COVID-19 virus.

The news was a particular concern to the Owls, as they are due at the City Ground on Saturday.

England's football clubs and their governing bodies remain in close contract with the Government and the health authorities over their response to the virus.

Last weekend the Football League and Premier League abandoned the now-traditional “fair play handshake” before matches in response.

Leeds United are one of a number of clubs to have banned its players from taking “selfies” or signing autographs with fans, and have moved academy players and the women's team away from their Thorp Arch training ground. Coach Marcelo Bielsa's pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's trip to Cardiff City has been moved to Elland Road as a precaution.

The Football Association reiterated on Wednesday morning that March's international friendlies against Italy and Denmark at Wembley remain on at this stage.
