Blackpool 1 Sheffield Wednesday 1: Owls hit by stoppage-time penalty

VETERAN striker Kevin Phillips scored a penalty in stoppage time for Blackpool to deny Sheffield Wednesday victory in the FA Cup fourth round, writes Ian Appleyard.

Phillips equalised after Chris Sedgwick was adjudged to have fouled Blackpool substitute Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

It was cruel luck on the Owls who were only moments from the fifth round after a goal from Clinton Morrison.

Morrison celebrated his return to the side with a goal after 52 minutes when Blackpool goalkeeper Michael Gilks came out to challenge striker Ryan Lowe and pushed the ball out into his path on the flank.

Morrison immediately curled the ball over Gilkes from the flank and inside the far post.

Both managers made wholesale changes for the game, emphasising that success in the league this season is more important. Now both teams have to play a replay - a fixture both could probably do without.
