Captain Tom Lees set to miss second game for Sheffield Wednesday

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY captain Tom Lees is likely to miss Tuesday night’s Championship game at Millwall, manager Steve Bruce has confirmed.

Lees is still suffering from the after-effects of a shin problem sustained in training on Friday, which is continuing to trouble him and left him with a nasty gash following a challenge.

The experienced defender sat out Saturday’s home match with Reading and is now set for a second match on the sidelines, with Jordan Thorniley to start again in his absence.

Bruce said: “I do not think he will make it. He has improved dramatically, as you normally do with a cut, but I do not think he is going to be involved.

“He (Thorniley) did very well and the reports I have got back from the lads in the past few weeks is that he could feel harshly done by, by not being in the team as he has done well.

“It is good that the kid has come in and done well. And he will have it all on tomorrow night, that is for sure, as we will need our centre backs to be at our best as we know what Millwall are going to throw at us.”
