The 27-year-old is eligible for the Tykes’ trip to Blackpool on Saturday.

Asked if he thought allowing six-goal O’Grady, 27, a move to a club also battling relegation was a risk, Owls boss Dave Jones said: “It’s something we thought about, but if you are prepared to let someone go out then it’s the one thing that you can’t be worrying about. Everything is a risk, at the end of the day.”

Delap, the former Republic of Ireland international, is also eligible.

The Reds have also accepted an offer of £3m from Premier League side Wigan Athletic for their highly-rated 18-year-old right wing-back John Stones.
