Yorkshire clubs already know a fair bit about travel weariness in 2015-16 with Leeds making long trips to Reading and Bristol City last week, while York follow up Saturday’s trip to Exeter with a trek to Swansea.

For the Blades, a cup trip to Fulham tonight is followed by another long navigation of the county’s motorway network, on a holiday weekend to boot, to Swindon Town on Saturday.

Just for good measure, the Blades journey to Hartlepool United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in seven days.

Adkins said: “We have got a lot of travelling this week. It is about the squad being utilised and we have highlighted on the DVD the importance of impact players.

“Sparky (Marc McNulty) came off the bench and did great and scored a wonderfiul goal on Saturday and the two people who were up applauding the goal, first and foremost, were Conor Sammon and Michael Higdon.

“Everyone is working so hard and everyone realises everyone has got a role to play.”
