Have your say: Jones is favourite to succeed Megson at Sheffield Wednesday

Dave Jones is the bookies’ favourite to succeed Gary Megson as manager of Sheffield Wednesday.

Megson was sacked on Wednesday night just three days after appearing to save his job with the Owls’ 1-0 win over city rivals Sheffield United.

Former Cardiff, Southampton and Stockport manager Jones is the man tipped to succeed Megson.

Rated at 1-2 with some bookmakers, Jones is understood to have already met with Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric.

Barnsley-born Mick McCarthy, Paul Ince, Alan Curbishley and former Owls striker Paulo Di Canio are also in the frame.

In the meantime, Chris Evans and coach Neil Thompson have been in charge until a new manager is appointed.

The pair supervised training today.
