Oldham 0 Sheffield Wednesday 2: Prutton and Lowe on target in Owls win

Gary Megson saw his Sheffield Wednesday side return over the Pennines with all three points against Oldham Athletic in League One.

Striker Gary Madine, midfielder James O’Connor, and defender Lewis Buxton remain sidelined for the Owls who have six loan signings in their squad.

Defender Miguel Llera missed out as manager Megson had to comply with the Football League limit of five in a matchday squad. Striker Sanchez Watt, on loan from Arsenal, started with Ryan Lowe dropping to the bench.

David Prutton broke the deadlock for the Owls, firing home after 62 minutes.

A Ryan Lowe penalty on 84 minutes doubled the visitors’ lead.

It proved to be a good afternoon for Wednesday as rivals Charlton were held 1-1 by Walsall, while Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town lost at home.
