Owls chief has Charlton in his sights

Three games and nine points into his tenure as Sheffield Wednesday manager, Dave Jones is targeting top spot in the automatic promotion race.

Not content with reeling in city rivals Sheffield United, Jones is refusing to rule out overhauling Charlton Athletic.

Chris Powell’s side have been the runaway leaders from the very outset this season but a recent stutter has seen their lead cut to nine points with nine games left.

“We would rather be chased than be chasing,” said Jones after closing the gap on United. “But we’ve caught one side on points, now we will go after the next one...”
