Sheffield Wednesday 1 Charlton 1: Owls lack both luck and cutting edge in attack
Wednesday took the lead through Caolan Lavery, who has only recently been given a run in the side after returning from a loan spell at Chesterfield, but they were pegged back when Johann Berg Gudmundsson converted a chance after Kieren Westwood parried a shot into his path.
The onrushing goalkeeper had no chance as the ball was lashed past him, consigning the Owls to a draw.

Hide AdGray said: “I watched the Derby versus Brentford match earlier (on Saturday) and they had chance after chance and, you know, it will haunt you if you don’t stick those chances away.
“Obviously we went 1-0 up, we had chances to get that second goal, but credit to Charlton because they stuck at it and got that equaliser.
“It’s disappointing because we’ve hit the woodwork twice. We just didn’t have that bit of luck or that bit of a break, but the most important thing is getting that second goal, which we didn’t do.
“You’ve got to keep creating chances and the most important thing is players having that self-belief, that confidence, to say ‘the next time that chance comes to me I’m going to put it away’.”

Hide AdCharlton head coach Guy Luzon felt slightly aggrieved that his team had a ‘goal’ disallowed in the first half when Chris Eagles put the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside.
