Sheffield Wednesday sign former Leeds United midfielder Prutton and defender Jones

Sheffield Wednesday have signed two players as Gary Megson steps up his recruitment for his first full season in charge.

Former Leeds United and Southampton midfielder David Prutton has signed on a free transfer.

And Rob Jones has completed his move from Scunthorpe United after a successful loan spell at Hillsborough towards the end of last season.

Prutton moved to the County Ground from Colchester on a free transfer last July.

He went on to make 46 appearances for the Robins, predominantly alongside skipper and another ex Leeds man Jonathan Douglas in the centre of midfield, as the club finished bottom of League One.

The fee was believed to be undisclosed but Sheffield Wednesday have stated Prutton joins a free transfer.

“We were informed of Sheffield Wednesday’s interest by his agent and allowed him to speak with the club. He goes with our best wishes,” Wray said.
