Sheffield Wednesday’s ‘committee’ trimmed as Glenn Roeder heads through exit door

The former West Ham United and Norwich City manager was brought in last April to be part of a three-man panel designed to advise owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Adam Pearson, also a fellow founding member along with then head coach Stuart Gray, left after only a week to take up an executive role at Leeds United, but Roeder had remained with the Championship club during a period that saw a substantial outlay on transfers to raise hopes of a play-off push.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri commented: “I have enjoyed working with Glenn and his football knowledge has been extremely helpful. As I have stated previously, I will continue to make the difficult decisions in the best interest of the club.

“The committee will continue to evolve, I therefore need to ensure it is populated with the best mix of expert advisors available to me which will result in periodical changes in personnel as the club continues to progress.

“I am confident that along with my network of trusted advisors the committee will continue to build on the success I believe we have already achieved as we approach the January transfer window.”

Roeder’s departure on Thursday means five members of the committee have left since it was set up towards the end of last season.

Pearson and Gray were the first to leave, while Jonathan Hill and Paul Senior – who were brought in at the start of May after fulfilling successful recruitment roles at other clubs – both left Hillsborough last month.

Roeder’s exit means Chansiri and head coach Carlos Carvalhal are the only remaining members of the committee.
