Neil Thompson quells job talk after guiding Sheffield Wednesday out of bottom three
Thompson maintained his 100 per cent record with a precious 1-0 triumph over Derby County at Hillsborough last night.
A goal just after the hour mark from Callum Paterson secured back-to-back Championship victories for the first time this season in Thompson’s second game at the helm following the axing of Tony Pulis.

On whether he would like the job permanently, the 57-year-old said: “It is too early to say anything like that. It has been a week which has been a bit of a whirlwind for everyone and it happens so quick. You have just got to be adaptable, that is football. I have been in it for 41 years since I left school and nothing ever surprises you.
“The focus has been on the players in preparing them for the games and getting them rested up and putting in a bit of tactical stuff and getting them in the right state of mind and the lads are really digging. I have put a training programme out for next week and we will deliver that as we see fit (if I am in charge).
“Being out of the bottom three will give everyone a lift and I am pleased for everyone at the club and the supporters.”
