SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY manager Garry Monk has confirmed that there is no prospect of veteran keeper Lee Camp being handed a contract at the club.

Camp is currently training with the Wednesday squad to keep himself ticking over while he tries to find a new club.

But Monk, who worked with Camp, 36, during their time at Birmingham, says he is doing it purely as a favour.

On Camp, who also previously had a spell in Yorkshire at Rotherham United, Monk said: "There is no situation. He just needs training and has not found a club yet.

"Obviously he knows us very well - and lives further up north with his family - and asked if he could come in and keep fit while he searches for a club. Of course.

"At Birmingham, Campy was fantastic for me and he is a great, experienced professional and a great lad.

"Of course, when you have people throughout your career who you respect, you try and help them out in times of need.

"He wants to keep training and on top of his fitness, while he searches for another club.

"The only decision behind it is to maintain his fitness and help someone who has been a good person who you like and who helped you in your career and you return that favour and help them back."
