The Owls were third in the Championship at Christmas, but were on a run of just two wins from 12 league games when English football was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. That had dragged them to 15th in the table.

Harris insists that despite that, the squad does not lack confidence, and that he is “more ready” to play now than at the start of the season.

"The season pausing where it has wasn't ideal because we wanted to change our run of form as soon as possible," he told Yorkshire Live.

"We were brilliant up until Christmas time then we had a dip in form. From then it went downhill but I've always said this is a close-knit squad and one full of confidence.

"Form is temporary, class is permanent. It's only a matter of time before our form and form for myself changes.

"We've had more than enough time to reflect (during this break). For me personally, I can't wait to get back. I've never been more ready.

"Even at the start of the season when I was looking forward to the season ahead, I don't think I was as ready or mentally-focused as I am now.

"I've had time to reflect how games have gone since the New Year. We're all reflecting on ourselves and our personal performances.

"I'm sure when we get back we'll be more of the team we were in the first part of the season more than we were in the second part."

Wednesday have not played since March 7, and the Football League have written to clubs telling them not to expect to be back at their training grounds until at least May 16. With the clubs likely to be given a three-week period before they return to competitive action, that means Harris and his team-mates are highly unlikely to be playing before June. The League has been planning around a 56-day period to complete the 2019-20 season, including the play-offs, but will be bound by Government health advice as to when that can start.
