Bantams legend McCall - who left City after a three-year stint as manager in early 2010 - will be assisted by his former Motherwell and Rangers assistant Kenny Black in his second spell managing the club.

After leaving Rangers a year ago, McCall - who played for Bradford between 1982-1988 and 1998-2002 - had been working as part of Gordon Strachan’s management staff at the Scotland national team, but was keen to get back into club football.

On returning to Valley Parade, McCall, 52, said: “I’m delighted to be back at this great club and I’m looking forward to the exciting challenge ahead.

“Over the next few days, I will be getting to know the staff and working with the chairmen on building a competitive squad for the new season.”

On luring McCall back to the club, joint chairman Stefan Rupp added: “Stuart’s fondness for Bradford City is evidently deep-rooted. He deserves this opportunity and I know the fans will join me in wishing him every success.

“Since his first spell as manager of Bradford City, Stuart has gone on to prove his credentials during a very successful spell at Motherwell and in the last couple of years has gained international coaching experience as Gordon Strachan’s assistant.

Stuart will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday, with subsequent announcements expected regarding his backroom team.
