Swansea 0 Hull City 2: Come and join us is the call from Mike Phelan

MIKE PHELAN hopes Hull City's winning start to the campaign will make the club a more enticing prospect to transfer targets.

The Tigers badly need reinforcements after a summer that has brought no new faces to the KCOM Stadium and seen several key players ruled out through injury.

Offers have been made for several players but, as yet, there has been little progress, but Phelan believes that could be about to change.

“The results over the two games will, hopefully, make football players want to come to this football club,” said the 53-year-old.

“We do need signings. We are looking to enhance the squad and, hopefully, they now have a different look about it when it comes to playing for this club.”

FC Sion striker Moussa Konate is one of several names to be linked with Hull in the past week and, while Phelan will not be drawn on specific targets, he admits the final nine days of the transfer window will be huge for the East Riding club.

“We have to do some business and I am sure we will before the deadline,” he added.

“Are we close on players? We have got some offers out there. We are waiting to see if there are any developments. Mind, no one seems to work on a Sunday, so it will be Monday morning probably.

“The pleasing thing is the players have really done their job. They have said to any potential players who want to come to this football club, ‘Come and join us’.

“All being well, let’s get some quality in, players that raise the standard and help us have more good Saturday nights.”
