Swindon 2 Doncaster Rovers 0: Jonathan Obika's double puts Rovers to the sword

A CLINICAL double strike from Jonathan Obika ensured Doncaster Rovers returned pointless from in-form Swindon Town.

Former Tottenham youngster Obika bagged the goals on a miserable night for Rovers, which ended with them being reduced to 10 men with Richard Chaplow was sent off. They are now winless in eight League One matches.

Swindon bossed the first period, but did not manage to open the scoring until deep into stoppage-time after a swift break. Michael Doughty’s header fell invitingly into the path of the offside-looking Obika, who poked home.

Mitchell Lund had the visitors’ best chance of a disappointing opening half, but lashed a shot wildly over the top.

Rovers’ goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann had been superb in keeping out efforts from Ellis Landolo and Nicky Ajose, and full-back Jamie Sendles-White also went close for Swindon.

Both Ajose and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill tested Stuckmann again after the break and the hosts went two clear midway through the second period.

Obika charged well clear before clipping a superb finish past the overworked Stuckmann.
