Wagner was officially unveiled as the new Town boss on Monday and he and his new charges have jetted off to Marbella for a five-day warm-weather training camp which will double up as a chance for him to get to know his players and staff.

Wagner will be assisted by Christophe Buhler, who he worked with during their time together at Dortmund under-23s, with the club having announced an additional coaching recruit with former Liverpool coach Mike Marsh having joined the new-look set-up, with first-team coach Steve Eyre leaving.

All Town players barring Jason Davidson and Emyr Huws - on international duty - and Joel Lynch, Ishmael Miller and Philip Billing, who are undergoing treatment at the PPG Canalside, have flown out to Spain.

Wagner has pledged to give all the current players every game to impress him during the early weeks of his tenure, while also mindful that the winter transfer window opens for business in January.

Wagner, keen to implement a new fast-paced counter-attacking style of play at Huddersfield, said: “I am a team player and I am sure I will get enough information from the club.

“I think Stuart Webber knows every English player from the age of 14 to whenever and Nigel knows everybody and everything about Huddersfield. Also our chairman Dean (Hoyle). I like to get all this information and then start to work.

“On Saturday, I saw there was speed and the players had the right mentality. I saw very good potential in this team.

“We did too many mistakes to win, but it still makes me excited to work with this team.

“Of course, I am a fan of young players and like to work with them. But we also need experience. The age is not important, but that they are ready to go. I only like to bring young players in when they are ready.”
