Tigers, Blades, Tykes and Millers bosses have their say

TEAMS from across the region were in action last night, with a mixed set of results recorded as four Yorkshire sides competed in games throughout the divisions.

Here's what the managers said afterwards.

Hull City 1 Chelsea 1

Tigers boss Phil Brown said: "You had the John Terry effect and you had the whole media circus that is surrounding this situation John finds himself in.

"For the team coach to come into the internal grounds of the KC Stadium and be followed by all the cameras...then you realise the intensity of the situation. But as far as we're concerned we were focused on playing football.

"We went 1-0 up and I was disappointed with the goal we conceded. Then you've got the second half and you've got to defend valiantly which we did.

"But we played some great football too, we put them under pressure - no doubt about it. We fully deserved a point and maybe even all three."

Watford 3 Sheffield United 0

Blades manager Kevin Blackwell said: "I was a bit surprised myself by that performance but we had mitigating circumstances.

"Yesterday we had a back four lined up of Kyle Walker, Nyron Nosworthy, Chris Morgan and Toni Kallio which looked as good as anything out there and I've ended up with nothing like that on the pitch at the end of the game.

"I've got players coming back from injury who are being asked to do a job and they are not ready. That was evident from that performance.

"Watford have not had to work for their goals, they were all gimmes and that is unfortunate. To make it worse it looks like Morgan has broken a rib and he is the last player we need to be losing now."

Preston North End 1 Barnsley 4

Tykes boss Markin Robins said: "I thought we were outstanding from start to finish but we have been threatening it.

"Since the turn of of the year, the results haven't been what we liked but we have reset the bar with that performance.

"We're not going to get carried away because I saw us play against Reading on Saturday and I know how bad we were."

Rotherham United 1 AFC Bournemouth 3

Millers boss Ronnie Moore said: "Home truths were said and not just by me. Players have spoken and there's been constructive criticism.

"Things were said and they needed saying. It's no good me and my staff having all the say, all the time.

"When a player points a finger at somebody, at least they know."
