Town back in top six but no time to relax

Wycombe Wanderers 1Huddersfield Town 2

HUDDERSFIELD propelled themselves back into the play-off zone with a second successive away win thanks to class finishes by strike pair Jordan Rhodes and Theo Robinson but then had to withstand a determined final flourish by relegation-haunted Wycombe.

Manager Lee Clark's joy was tempered with disappointment as Town conceded what he called a poor 73rd-minute goal and it left him saying: "I'd like more relaxation time in the dugout – at times we give ourselves nervous situations in the last 20 minutes and it drives me potty."

Clark, whose men have a chance to cement their top-six ranking when Oldham visit the Galpharm tomorrow, added: "But I'm no crackpot. I'm just disappointed that we didn't see the game out better and I have to make sure our players realise that.

"When we did the right things we created opportunities – the two goals were fantastic – to have had three or four and should have made it more comfortable but we then had periods when we lost our discipline and shape."

Rhodes cleverly notched his 21st goal of the season after 22 minutes when Michael Collins's blocked effort looped up for him, and Robinson added his 11th of the campaign seven minutes after the break.

They were left rueing a string of missed chances – Neal Trotman was unlucky with a header that hit the bar – as Wycombe got back into it with a header by Dean Keates and they had Town defending in the closing stages.
