Town chief Clark aims to build the pressure on Saints

LEE CLARK has pledged to reward the loyalty of Huddersfield Town’s travelling fans with a return to the automatic promotion places by 5pm today.

The Terriers head down the M1 to Milton Keynes Dons knowing that avoiding defeat will be enough to move up a place to second due to Southampton not being in action until tomorrow.

More than 2,000 fans are expected to head south from Huddersfield and Clark is determined to repay that support with a win that would pile the pressure on the Saints ahead of their trip to newly-crowned champions Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Town manager, whose side are unbeaten in the league in 2011, said: “We are looking forward to the game. We will have a huge following and I really like the stadium, it has a great pitch.

“So, we are going to give it a right good go. That backing has been there, home and away, all season and we want to give our fans something to celebrate come 5pm.

“The match has all the makings of a real cracker. These are the games that being involved in football is all about. There is a lot riding on this.

“We are very confident, but not complacent. We have a good mix.”

Town have no new injury concerns ahead of their meeting with the Dons, who sit fifth in the table having won eight of their last 11 games.

Clark said: “It will be a very tough game. They are on a terrific run and are one of the best passing teams in the division.

“I have watched a lot of footage of MK Dons during their good run and they have clearly found a shape that suits them.

“However, they will be wary of us as well for lots of reasons – none more so than the fact that we have lots of good individual players at the top of their game.”
