Doncaster Rovers are still chasing a return for Chelsea youngster Jordan Houghton however Darren Ferguson admits there is only a 'slim chance' of his side making further signings before the transfer window closes.

Houghton, 21, made 32 appearances as Rovers won promotion from League Two last season, scoring one goal.

With first team opportunities unlikely at Stamford Bridge, Houghton will once again seek a loan move - having previously spent time at Gillingham and Plymouth Argyle.

Doncaster lead the race to re-sign the player but Ferguson revealed talks were ongoing.

“I would probably say it’s a slim chance of any other players coming in,” Ferguson said.

“There is a possibility with Jordan but we need to continue to talk to Chelsea. After that, with what I’ve got available, I don’t think there is going to be anything that’s really going to improve the squad."

Leeds United striker Souleymane Doukara could be heading towards the exit door at Elland Road after not featuring in the Whites' first four matches this season.

"We’ve said we need a replacement before we can let him go. We haven’t signed a replacement. Two replacements we need. You need four centre-halves. You can’t go into a season with two centre-halves."

Kieran Wallace has left Sheffield United after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
