FORMER Sheffield United defender Kyle McFadzean has reportedly handed in a transfer request amid rumours linking him with a move back to the Blades.

The 29-year-old MK Dons centre-half, who made 44 appearances in the heart of the Dons’ defence last term, started his career at Bramall Lane, but failed to make a first-team appearance.

The Blades are focusing on central defensive targets with Chris Wilder keen on bringing in two new centre-halves, with his options severely limited in that department.

Meanwhile, the Blades’ city rivals Sheffield Wednesday must fend off competition from several Championship rivals if they are to win the race to bring left-back Daniel Pudil back to the Owls.

The Hornets are thought to be holding out for a £2million fee for the 30-year-old, with the current cost deemed as too prohibitive for the Owls, who regard the fee as too high given the players’ age.

Pudil’s preference is a return to Hillsborough.

The Owls are preparing a move for Portuguese forward Nelson Oliveira, according to reports back in Portugal with Carlos Carvalhal keen to bring his fellow countryman to Hillsborough.

Benfica player Oliveira, 24, scored nine goals in 29 appearances during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest last term, including the winner in the East Midlands derby with Derby County at the City Ground.

He was recently told that he is free to leave Benfica.

A groin injury towards the end of last term ruled out any hope that Oliveira had of making Portugal’s Euro 2016 squad.

Barnsley have reportedly had a bid rejected for Charlton winger Callum Harriott.

The Reds - also in the market for Plymouth defender Curtis Nelson - have seen an initial offer rejected by the Addicks for the 22-year-old, subject of a failed bid from Wigan last summer

Harriott’s deal at The Valley was due to expire this summer, but the club invoked an option to extend his terms by 12 months.

Meanwhile, Barnsley have seen a bid for centre-half Nelson rebuffed and labelled as derisory by Argyle, entitled to compensation for the 23-year-old, having offered him a new contract which he has turned down.

An Argyle statement read: “Following newspaper reports linking Barnsley with our captain, Curtis Nelson, we can confirm that we have rejected a derisory offer from them for the player.

“Curtis remains under contract to us and any approach to him without our approval would be in contravention of EFL rules.”

The Reds are also keen on former loanee Lloyd Isgrove, but face stiff opposition from Preston.

Liverpool have been linked with Hull City’s Andrew Robertson with the Reds set to miss out on Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell, after the Foxes rejected a £7m bid for the 19-year-old England youth player, who spent a spell on loan at Huddersfield Town last term.

Robertson has been monitored by several top clubs in England, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all reportedly interested in the Scottish international.

On the incoming front, Hull have been linked with several players including Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite and Standard Liege defender Eyong Enoh, also interesting Everton and Crystal Palace.
