Transfer gossip (Thurs, Aug 18): Tigers target Everton forward | Leeds close to deal | Blades winger on way out? | Boro look to Italy

HULL CITY are in talks to sign Everton striker Oumar Niasse on a season-long loan - but face stiff competition from Crystal Palace.

Niasse was brought in by former Blues chief Roberto Martinez in a £13.5m deal in January but has failed to make any kind of impact, with new manager Ronald Koeman saying there is no future for him at Goodison Park.

Hull are desperate for new recruits to bolster their wafer-thin squad and Everton could capitalise by sending Niasse on loan in a bid to free up wages for new recruits themselves

Niasse played just 45 minutes of pre-season and has not been given a squad number at Everton this season.

Leeds United are hoping to finalise the loan signing of Sweden international Pontus Jansson today, taking their tally of summer signings to 10.

The Torino centre-back was put through a medical yesterday after flying to England to finalise to a year-long stay at Elland Road.

Jansson – a 6ft 5in defender who made Sweden’s squad for the recent European Championship – attended United’s 1-1 draw with Fulham on Tuesday and will be in contention to feature in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday if the move goes through in time.

Fleetwood Town are reportedly lining up a move for out-of-favour Sheffield United winger Martyn Woolford.

Woolford has been deemed surplus to requirements at Bramall Lane by Chris Wilder and was placed on the transfer list soon after the Blades chief arrived at the club in mid-May.

The 30-year-old has not featured for the Blades this season.

Middlesbrough are leading the chase to secure the signature of Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu.

The 27-year-old Ghanaian international is keen to leave Udinese after spending six seasons with the club.
