The 24-year-old was born in Germany and played for Town head coach David Wagner at Borussia Dortmund II, where he was virtually an ever-present in their Regionalliga West title-winning team in 2011-12.

Paurevic moved on to Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2012 and then left Germany to play in Russia in the summer of 2014, linking up with FC Ufa and scoring five goals as they retained their top division status.

Town had earlier signed Wolves winger Rajiv Van La Parra and German duo Chris Lowe and Michael Hefele.

Barnsley have reportedly seen a £400,000 bid for in-demand Colchester United midfielder George Moncur turned down.

Moncur will be allowed to leave Colchester this summer, but the League Two club are looking to secure up to £500,000 for him.

Charlton are among a number of clubs also interested in Moncur, who is also reportedly on the radar of Swindon Town, Peterborough United and MK Dons.

Moncur joined the U’s on loan from West Ham in August 2014 before making the move permanent three months later.

He scored 14 times in 51 matches during the 2015-16 season, taking his goalscoring tally for the club to 23 in 97 appearances.

The Watford left-back enjoyed a successful season-long loan with the Owls last term, making 42 appearances. He is currently on international duty with the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, George Long’s representatives have requested more time for the keeper to consider the offer tabled by Sheffield United.

Manager Chris Wilder stated last week that the ‘ball was in the court’ of the 22-year-old custodian regarding his Bramall Lane future.
