Transfer gossip (Weds, July 13): Owls and Tigers in battle for winger; Blades want Millers target; Leeds eye midfielder

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY and Hull City are in the hunt to sign West Brom winger Callum McManaman.

The former Wigan player is expected to move to pastures new this summer and is on the wanted list of the Owls, Tigers and Burnley.

McManaman has only made seven starts since becoming Tony Pulis’s first signing after joining from the Latics for £4.75m in January 2015 and the Baggies are set to cut their losses and sell the Merseysider, who has slipped further down the pecking order following the capture of Matt Phillips.

The 25-year-old started a few games at the beginning of the season, but was then accused by Pulis of diving during the home game against Southampton in September.

The winger didn’t start another game in the Premier League all season and was shunted down to the under-21s.

He picked up an ankle ligament injury after Christmas that required surgery and ruled him out for a couple of months.

Wednesday are also battling it out with Fulham to sign Wolves midfielder Kevin McDonald, 27, who could return to the Steel City following a spell at Sheffield United before heading to Molineux.

Meanwhile, Brighton midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey is set to spurn the advances of Rotherham United, with the 23-year-old reluctant to move to the club permanently.

Sheffield United are also interested in Forster-Caskey.

The Millers have seen a club record bid of £1.2m for Millwall’s Lee Gregory rebuffed, but have not given up hope of landing the Sheffield-born forward, who hit 27 goals for Millwall last term.

Former Barnsley loanee and Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher has joined West Ham on a four-year contract.

The 20-year-old becomes Slaven Bilic’s fourth signing of the summer after Havard Nordtveit, Sofiane Feghouli and Gokhan Tore joined the club.

The Hammers have also been linked with Leeds United target Rico Henry, while the Whites are reportedly in the market for Reading midfielder Danny Williams.

Doncaster Rovers have re-signed midfielder Riccardo Calder on loan until January - their ninth signing of a hectic close-season.

The Aston Villa youngster impressed during a two-month loan spell with Rovers towards the end of last season, with Darren Ferguson having previously revealed his desire to re-sign him.
