Reports suggest that head coach David Wagner might move for the former England international to provide competition for Jonas Lossl, who signed on a season-long loan earlier this summer.

Wagner has been assessing his options after seeing Danny Ward move back to Liverpool, with the vastly-experienced Green emerging as an option, with the 37-year-old being back-up to Felix Wiedwald at Elland Road.

The Blades chief had been eager to bring in a centre-half after injured Richard Stearman - himself a summer arrival at Bramall Lane - was ruled out for eight weeks.

Carter-Vickers, 19, has represented the USA at various youth levels and made his Spurs debut last season in the League Cup against Gillingham at White Hart Lane.

“Cameron is young, athletic and highly-rated by Tottenham and we’re delighted we’ve been trusted to continue his development,” said Wilder.

“He is a central defender with a good attitude and adds competition for places in that area. I like the way Tottenham play and it’s clear that Cameron has the ability to be a very good player.”

Carter-Vickers has signed on a season-long loan and is eligible to make his debut against Derby County today.

Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky is hoping to follow up the additions of Stephen Kingsley and Jon Toral with the signing of Watford striker Isaac Success on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old forward has been made available for loan by former City chief Marco Silva just 13 months after joining Watford from Granada for a then record transfer of £12.5m.

Hull are also one of several clubs, along with Championship rivals Middlesbrough, who are keen on Brentford’s stylish playmaker Jota.

Boro have seen one £4.5m bid rebuffed and are said to be unwilling to be held to ransom over Jota, while reiterating their confidence that key defender Ben Gibson will be staying at the club.

On the incoming front, Boro have a deal in place to sign Birmingham’s Ryan Shotton and despite the move having been put on hold until Blues bring in a replacement, the likelihood is that the deal will still be done.

But Brentford value Jota, about to enter the final year of his Bees contract, in the £8m bracket, which is being viewed as too prohibitive by Boro.

Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that a deal to bring Jordan Houghton back to the club from Chelsea is now completed - with the midfield player to return to Rovers in the middle of next month.

Houghton spent much of last season on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium until a serious knee injury curtailed his spell at the club in February, with Ferguson having monitored his rehabilitation since.
