Wood was undergoing a medical at Turf Moor today ahead of signing a four-year contract which will be worth over £15m to the Elland Road club.

Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen will be anxious to spend some of that cash before the transfer window closes especially after losing Wood’s replacement in the 2-0 win at Sunderland, Caleb Ekuban, to injury during the second half.

Wood, who scored 30 goals for Leeds last season, follows £7m left-back Charlie Taylor from Elland Road to Turf Moor.

Another Leeds player on the way out could be Nottingham Forest target Liam Bridcutt, who was not in the squad at the Stadium of Light.

Forest want to sign the 28-year-old midfielder, who has not played for Leeds in the Championship this season.

Barnsley are again being linked with a takeover, this time from Chinese billionaire Chien Lee, the majority shareholder at French Ligue 1 side Nice.

Lee, who made his fortune with hotel firm Plateno Group and the investment company NewCity Capital, is said to have had talks with the powers that be at Oakwell, having previously been linked to Brentford and having an offer for Middlesbrough rejected by chairman Steve Gibson.

Sam Clucas looks certain to be finally heading out of Hull City.

The 26-year-old was omitted from Hull’s matchday squad at QPR amid further speculation over the midfielder’s future.

City have rejected bids from Premier League clubs Burnley and Swansea this week but head coach Leonid Slutsky admitted that Clucas is set for a move to the Premier League.

Huddersfield Town’s injured striker, Bermudan Nahki Wells, is being eyed by both Hull city and Wolves.

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray said after his side’s 1-0 win at Bradford City that he is not interested in former Bantams striker James Hanson, who is surplus to requirements at Sheffield United. Scunthorpe United are now favourites to sign the frontman.
