Leeds United, meanwhile, continue to show interest in both Fleetwood Town right-back Conor McLaughlin and NEC winger Anthony Limbombe who has had a bitter fall out with his Nijmegan club after walking out of training. NEC are believed to have already accepted a bid from Toulouse, a move which Limbombe is reluctant to take, and Club Brugge have also been tracking the youngster.

United are also keen on bringing back Sunderland’s former Whites loanee Liam Bridcutt but he is now attracting the interest of Aston Villa.

Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United and Barnsley are both being linked with a move for Falkirk midfielder Will Vaulks who is also interesting Bristol City. Vaulks is under contract until next summer, but will turn 23 in September and can therefore leave for free in 12 months. Falkirk reportedly had one bid for the player rejected on Monday.

League Two Doncaster Rovers could be about to sign veteran midfielder Paul Green who has been training with them but Rovers face competition from several League One clubs.
