6.40pm: Before the deadline, Stoke City completed two more transfers to cap a busy day with Jermaine Pennant coming in from Real Zaragoza and Marc Wilson from Portsmouth.

6.35pm: Everton have confirmed Joseph Yobo is set to join Turkish outfit Fenerbahce on a season-long loan pending personal terms and a medical.

6.25pm: The closing of the window has not stopped the rumours...Hull City defender Anthony Gardner could be joining Crystal Palace on loan.

6.10pm: Told you so...Wigan have confirmed the signing of Franco Di Santo on a three-year contract from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. But no Gattuso to Town.

6pm: The window, theoretically should be now closed, although my colleague, a Huddersfield fan, still reckons there's time for Town sign Gennaro Gattuso from AC Milan. The window is closed but there'll be plenty of signings coming to light throughout the evening.

5.57pm: Birmingham have completed the signing of Chile winger Jean Beausejour on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Club America.

5.55pm: Blackpool have completed the of striker DJ Campbell for an undisclosed fee from Leicester.

5.50pm: Sunderland have, in the nick of time, signed Asamoah Gyan for a fee in excess of 13m from French club Rennes.

5.45pm: Emiliano Insua has left Liverpool for Turkish giants Galatasaray on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

5.25pm: Watford have signed Middlesbrough defender Andrew Taylor on a six-month loan deal. The left-back has made just one substitute appearance for Gordon Strachan's side this season and will add competition for places at Vicarage Road.

5.05pm: Manchester City are the biggest spenders without question, but they have got to get rid of players to offset all the signings, andf one of those on his way out is Adam Clayton, who has made his loan deal at Leeds United permanent.

5pm: Robinho's at it again, making a splash in the closing hours of the transfer window. The Brazilian forward has joined AC Milan from Manchester City on a permanent deal, the Italian club have announced on their official website.

4.55pm: Reading have signed Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili on loan for a second time.

4.45pm: Sheffield Wednesday have allowed goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell to join Conference side Grimsby Town on a month's loan.

4.25pm: Stoke have reached an agreement with Monaco for the season-long loan of Eidur Gudjohnsen. The former Chelsea and Barcelona striker, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham, is currently having discussions at the Britannia Stadium.

4.20pm: Newcastle striker Kazenga LuaLua has joined Brighton on loan until January 3. It will be 19-year-old LuaLua's second loan spell with Brighton, having played 11 matches for the Seagulls last season.

4.05pm: Wigan Athletic have swooped to sign Manchester United's Tom Cleverley on loan.

3.15pm: At last a big-ish transfer, but it's no surpirse. Liverpool have confirmed they have signed defender Paul Konchesky on a four-year contract from Fulham, with Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic moving in the opposite direction.

3pm: Bolton have signed forward Rodrigo Moreno from Benfica on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.

2.30pm: Lubomir Michalik has left Leeds United and joined Carlisle United on loan.

1.35pm: Ambitious Birmingham City have pulled off a surprise with the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Alexandr Hleb on a season-long deal from Barcelona.

1.30pm: Manchester City's multi-million pound misfit Robinho is reportedly in Iatly discussing a move to AC Milan.

1.25pm: Blackpool continue to set the Premier League alight. The top-flight newcomers have signed Wycombe winger Matt Phillips for an initial fee of 325,000, the League Two club have confirmed. Wycombe will receive a further six-figure payment if Blackpool remain in the top flight next season

12.30pm: Tottenham Hotspur have signed Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa on a season-long loan.

12pm: And Leeds United have completed the signing of Honduras international Ramon Nunez. The 24-year-old midfielder, who can also play as a forward, impressed Simon Grayson during a month's trial. He has signed on a short-term contract until January.

11.55am: Things are happening in Yorkshire at last - Rotherham United have extended the loan deal of Dean Holden from Shrewsbury Town for a further month. Not massive but we'll take it. The only news Millers fans want to hear though is that Adam le Fondre is staying put.

11.50am: Doncaster Rovers have allowed midfielder Josh Payne to join Oxford United on a one-month loan deal.

11.45am: Defender Jonathan Fortune, who spent last season at Sheffield United, has rejoined Charlton Athletic on a deal until Christmas.

11.30am: Besiktas have reportedly launched a surprise bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane on loan.

11am: Asamoah Gyan, the Rennes and Ghana striker, is reportedly in Sunderland having a medical before signing a 12m, four-year deal.

10.50am: Deadline day is hotting up as German side Hoffenheim complete the signing of midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from English Championship club Reading for a deal worth a reported 7.3m euros (6m). Sigurdsson has signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga club, before immediately departing to join up with the Iceland squad ahead of Euro 2012 qualifiers against Norway and Denmark.

10.45am: Birmingham striker Marcus Bent has joined Wolves on loan until January.

7.30am: Klaas Jan Huntelaar has become the first big-name player to move clubs on the final day of the current transfer window after joining Bundesliga club Schalke from AC Milan, thus ending speculation linking him with Tottenham Hotspur.

Monday August 30

5pm: Former Celtic and Hull striker Jan Venegoor of Hesselink has joined Rapid Vienna as a free agent.

2.30pm: Wilfred Bouma is delighted to have secured a return to PSV Eindhoven. Bouma yesterday signed a two-year deal at PSV, five years after leaving the Philips Stadion for Aston Villa.

3pm: Liverpool have splashed the cash to sign Porto winger Raul Meireles for 11.5m on a four-year deal.

2pm: Newcastle United have secured the services of Hatem Be Arfa on a season-long loan deal from Marseille.

Friday August 27

3.30pm: Jeremiah Ani's move to Rotherham has been confirmed after the deal received international clearance.

2.30pm: Italian striker Alessandro Pellicori has left QPR to join Italian club Torino. The 29-year-old was surplus to requirements under manager Neil Warnock so has joined the Serie B club on a season-long deal.

12.30pm: Scotland international Ross McCormack has joined Leeds from fellow npower Championship club Cardiff for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old striker has signed a three-year deal ahead of his side's clash with Watford on Saturday, where he could make his debut.

Thursday August 26

4pm: Norwich have signed West Brom defender Leon Barnett on loan until January 4. The 25-year-old joined the Baggies from Luton in 2007 for an initial fee of 2.5million and he has made over 50 starts for the Premier League club.

12pm: Arsenal have completed the signing of Sevilla defender Sebastien Squillaci.

Wednesday August 25

3pm: Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of Crystal Palace striker Alan Lee for an undisclosed fee.

11.15am: Robinho has told Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini he wants to play in either Italy or Spain. The Brazil international, who went out on loan to Santos last season, looks increasingly likely to leave Eastlands. Turkish sides Besiktas and Fenerbahce are apparently keen to secure the former Real Madrid forward's services and there is also interest from elsewhere.

Tuesday August 24

4.15pm: Rotherham United have boosted their attacking options with the capture of Nigeria-born striker Jeremiah Ani.

4pm: Alessandro Diamanti has signed for Italian side Brescia from West Ham, the Barclays Premier League club have confirmed.

3pm: Sheffield United have completed the signing of Nancy full-back Jean Calve. Calve arrives at Bramall Lane on a season-long loan.

10.15am: Leeds United agree a fee with Cardiff City for striker Ross McCormack, seemingly beating Hull City and Ipswich Town to the 24-year-old's signature.

10am: Fulham have confirmed the signing Algeria defender Rafik Halliche on a three-year deal from Portuguese side Benfica.

Monday August 23

7pm: Prior to the Manchester City versus Liverpool match in the Premier League it was revealed that Liverpool had rejected a 16m bid from Barcelona for midfielder Javier Mascherano.

4pm: Huddersfield Town have had a bid for Crystal Palace striker Alan Lee accepted by the Championship club.

1.15pm: Ipswich have completed the signing of Wigan striker Jason Scotland for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old has signed a one-year-deal at Portman Road and could make his debut against Crewe on Tuesday.

12pm: Wigan have confirmed the signing of Scotland defender Steven Caldwell, who was a free agent after leaving Burnley in the summer, on a one-year contract.

Saturday August 21

2pm: Rotherham United manager Ronnie Moore admits he failed to entice Plymouth striker Rory Fallon to the club, and that he also missed out on his son, Ian Thomas-Moore who has signed a new contract at Tranmere Rovers.

9am: Crystal Palace have snapped up Ipswich Town striker Pablo Counago on a free transfer.

3pm: Just hours after exiting administration, Crystal Palace sign former Holland international midfielder Edgar Davids on a pay-as-you-play deal.

12.30pm: Bournemouth have confirmed striker Brett Pitman has failed to agree terms over a move to Blackpool. The 22-year-old, who scored 28 goals for the Cherries last season and a 16-minute hat-trick for them last weekend, travelled to meet Pool officials yesterday to discuss a move to the Premier League newcomers.

9am: William Gallas, who was released by Arsenal at the end of last season, looks set to move across North London to the Gunners' bitter rivals Tottenham. The French defender is poinsed to sign a one-year contract and will have a medical at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Thursday August 19

2.15pm: Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon has joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan, the Championship club have confirmed. The York-born centre-half moved to the Black Cats in January from Sheffield United but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by.

11.45am: Arsenal look set to strengthen their defence with the signing of France international Sebastien Squillaci from Sevilla, after the Spanish club confirmed an offer had been received for the centre-half.

Wednesday August 18

6pm: Relegated Hull City have sold striker Daniel Cousin to Greek side Larissa.

4.45pm: James Milner has finally completed his protracted transfer from Aston Villa to Manchester City. The Leeds-born England midfielder, 24, has joined the big-spending Blues after a summer of speculation over his future, although Eastlands always seemed likely to be his ultimate destination.

4pm: Stoke City have signed forward Jon Walters from Ipswich for an initial fee of 2.75m. The fee could rise to 3.25m for the 26-year-old who has signed a four-year contract at the Britannia Stadium.

3.45pm: Fulham have signed Belgium striker Moussa Dembele from AZ Alkmaar on a three-year contract. Dembele, who can also play on the wing, arrives at Craven Cottage for a fee believed to be 5m and has won 28 caps.

3.15pm: Liverpool complete the 2.3m signing of Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Jones on a three-year deal. Australian Jones was formerly on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

1.30pm: Premier League newboys Blackpool have completed the signing of Israel international Dekel Keinan. The 25-year-old joins on a one-year deal with the option of a further year having joined from Maccabi Haifa.
