Tudgay leaves Wednesday while Reid extends stay with the Blades

SHEFFIELD Wednesday have agreed a loan deal with Nottingham Forest for the services of striker Marcus Tudgay until January with a view to a permanent deal.

Tudgay joined the Owls at the start of 2006, signing a contract keeping him at Hillsbrough until 2010.

With Wednesday vying for promotion to the Championship the club's form has been impressive considering the events going on behind the scenes.

The offload of Tudgay, one of the club's high earners, comes on the back of the ongoing saga regarding a takeover or possible administration.

With the reported 30m-worth of debt looming over the League One side, fans will be left wondering whether many more sacrifices will have to be made.

Following last Wednesday's High Court decision to grant the Sheffield club 28 days to find 1m in unpaid tax comes next week's hearing over a 400,000 outstanding VAT bill.

A number of groups have shown interest in investing at Hillsbrough over the last few weeks and any takeover cannot come soon enough for Wednesday.

Sheffield United have extended the loan of Andy Reid until January.

Reid, 28, has impressed for the Blades since arriving from Sunderland and United boss Gary Speed will undoubtedly be pleased that they have ensured the Irishman's services until after their home tie with Doncaster Rovers on Monday, January 3 2011.

The Christmas and New Year period is a testing time for clubs throughout the football leagues with a series of fixtures coming in quick succession.

With the strain on squad's becoming greater over this festive season the news of Reid's loan extension will be welcomed with open arms by the Blades supporters.
