Two new faces in Barnsley's sights, says Paul Heckingbottom

BARNSLEY head coach Paul Heckingbottom says he is targetting two new signings, allied to the retention of all his existing players, ahead of tomorrow's transfer window deadline.

Heckingbottom is working overtime to get some more incoming transfer business over the line after bringing in Alex Mowatt on Friday.

The formerLeeds United midfielder is likely to be involved in Tuesday night’s home game with Wolves.

Heckingbottom, who says that talks are ‘ongoing’ regarding a new deal for key midfielder Josh Scowen, said: “I am wanting to do (sign) two players without losing any of the others.

“We have been close all the way through. It is just difficult getting them over the line. I would like to get a couple in, yes.”

Meanwhile, luckless defender Aidy White is set for a fresh spell on the sidelines after a suffering recurrence of his pelvic injury in Saturday’s derby win at Rotherham.

Matty James suffered from cramp in the latter stages at the New York Stadium, but should be fine for the Wolves game, with Heckingbottom ‘really pleased with his debut performance against the Millers.

On White, Heckingbottom said: “It is really frustrating and we are upset for him because everyone at the club knows how hard he works and it is something we are going to have to get right with him again.

“We are down for Aidy.”
