The former Millwall and Port Vale player, transfer listed at the end of last season, is back in training following injury, having not yet found a new club with a year still left on his Keepmoat Stadium deal.

Ferguson, who will make changes for tomorrow’s EFL Cup tie at home to Nottingham Forest, said: “We are still trying to do something with Dany N’Guessan in terms of moving him on.

“Dany is back training and that’s the most important thing as it is very rare that you would take a player that is injured.

“The next two weeks are important for him in terms of trying to get himself a club. The closer we get to the end of the window, I would like to think something will happen.”

Ferguson says that Tommy Rowe, who picked up a slight knock in the weekend game at Accrington, is available, but the game comes too soon for Paul Keegan, although he has a ‘slight chance’ of featuring at the weekend.

Mathieu Baudry and Gary McSheffrey are not far away from a return, revealed Ferguson, who will consider loaning out some young players to aid their development.
