Video '“ Leeds United coach Christiansen lays down law to errant players

THOMAS CHRISTIANSEN has ordered his Leeds United side to clean up their act after having two players sent off in as many outings.

The Elland Road club will be without both Samuel Saiz and Eunan O’Kane for today’s Championship clash against Millwall through suspension.

Saiz will sit out the second of a six-game ban for spitting at the end of the FA Cup defeat at Newport County, while O’Kane misses the next three games after being dismissed for a head-butt against Ipswich Town last weekend.

“I have spoken individually with some players but also with the whole team at the same time,” said Christiansen. “I will not accept these situations. If we look back, perhaps at the end of the season, and we are three points or four points (adrift), we will all complain about these situations that could have been avoided.

“I said to my players I will not accept that any more. One thing is to get a yellow card because you go strong in a tackle or come a little bit late.

“But discipline like the one from Samu and Eunan, that is unacceptable and I will not permit that anymore.

“The issue comes when we receive cards for speaking to the referee, for kicking the ball away, for doing these two acts that I mentioned with Eunan and Samu.

“There was also a situation with Pontus (Jansson) that he was so frustrated because of the referee. These are the things we have to manage ourselves.

“With the referee, you cannot deal with him. He decides. Of course, we can say that some decisions have been wrong.

“But we have to do our work on the pitch and not complain about red cards. We have to put in the discipline. From now on, I will not accept these situations.

“If we need three points, everyone will look back at these situations.”
