Heckingbottom, whose side welcome Coventry City tomorrow as they seek to inject further momentum into their League One play-off bid, was active in the transfer market late last week, bringing in highly-rated Middlesbrough winger Harry Chapman on loan, despite considerable interest from other clubs.

Heckingbottom says that more business is likely to be on the agenda in the coming weeks - with the club linked with Fulham defender Shaun Hutchinson.

Heckingbottom confirmed on Monday morning that Hutchinson was being monitored, but he was among a host of other targets for the Tykes.

He said: “We just less than four weeks before the end of the transfer deadline and we probably need someone in before then because the last thing you want is thinking you are going to be alright and then the window closes and that’s it for five or six weeks.

“We will definitely be looking and hoping to get someone in by then.”

On the link with Hutchinson, he added: “He’s one of a few (but) when you think of every player out there for every sort of position, there’s hundreds out there.

“There’s lots of factors which come into who we get if we can get someone.”
