Doncaster Rovers were the early pacesetters in the activity stakes, with Huddersfield Town among others showing express speed. The likes of Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Barnsley have also made moves.

The big money deal so far has seen Boro shelve out £11.75m to Serie A side Atalanta to sign Dutch midfielder Marten De Roon, while Leeds paid out £2m to sign Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson.

Town also have been wafting the chequebook, paying a club record £1.8m to sign 1860 Munich captain Chris Schindler.

Expect more activity in the coming weeks across the Broad Acres, with the likes of the Owls, Hull City, Bradford City and Rotherham United having key work to do.

Here are the done deals so far and some priorities remaining for all of our sides.

BARNSLEY

DONE DEALS: George Moncur (Colchester), Elliott Lee (West Ham), Andy Yiadom (Barnet), Stefan Payne (Dover), Kayden Jackson (Wrexham).

PRIORITIES: Getting Adam Hammill to re-sign was a considerable tick, as was the deal to bring George Moncur, who was much coveted and is a star in the making. With Ashley Fletcher now at West Ham, another striker - with Elliott Lee relatively unproven - is a must. It remains to be seen if the Reds manage to bring back Lloyd Isgrove, so another right winger is another priority area, potentially. Defensive reinforcements too and keeping hold of messrs Winnall, Mawson and Hourihane.

BRADFORD CITY

DONE DEALS: Nicky Law (Rangers), Nathaniel Knight-Percival (Shrewsbury).

PRIORITIES: Plenty, with Stuart McCall and new chief scout Greg Abbott having a fair bit of work in the in-tray. With Ben Williams now at Bury, the goalkeeping department remains an obvious area and also midfield, with Lee Evans and Josh Cullen returning to their parent clubs. City play to push the boat out to bring back Cullen, although the smart money is on a loan move to the Championship. We’ll see...

DONCASTER ROVERS

DONE DEALS: Tyler Garratt (Bolton Wanderers), John Marquis (Millwall), Gary McSheffrey (Scunthorpe), Joe Wright (Huddersfield Town), Mathieu Baudry (Leyton Orient), Ross Etheridge (Accrington), Matty Blair (Mansfield Town), Tommy Rowe (Wolves).

PRIORITIES: Rovers seem to have covered their bases pretty well and a main priority will be to get outgoing players Thorsten Stuckmann and Dany N’Guessan off their books.

DONE DEALS: Aaron Mooy (Manchester City), Chris Schindler (Munich 1860), Elias Kachunga (FC Ingostadt), Chris Lowe (FC Kaiserslautern), Michael Hefele (Dynamo Dresden), Rajiv Van La Parra (Wolves), Joel Coleman (Oldham Athletic), George Dorrington (Manchester United), Jack Payne (Southend).

PRIORITIES: Town have done plenty of work already, with the main emphasis now being on getting the newcomers to gel into a much-changed squad. One or two signings are still possible, as David Wagner intimated last week, with right-back cover being one area.

HULL CITY

DONE DEALS: Will Mannion (AFC Wimbledon).

PRIORITIES: Getting Tom Huddlestone and Ahmed Elmohamady was a bit of in-house work that needed to be completed and was comparatively straightforward. But elsewhere, specifically in terms of new signings, the Tigers have loads to do. Supplementing their attacking options being very high on the list - although proven frontmen do not come cheap.

DONE DEALS: Marcus Antonsson (Kalmar), Kyle Bartley (Swansea City), Hadi Sacko (Sporting Lisbon, loan).

PRIORITIES: A midfield leader and another goalscorer, even accounting for the arrival of Marcus Antonsson - and a few other bits and pieces besides. Keeping hold of the ‘family silver’ in the shape of Lewis Cook and Charlie Taylor is a must.

MIDDLESBROUGH

DONE DEALS: Viktor Fischer (Ajax), Bernando Espinosa (Sporting Gijon), Marten de Roon (Atalanta).

PRIORITIES: Another goalkeeping option to battle it out with Dimi Konstantopoulos and some defensive cover are obvious areas - and are being addressed by the looks of it - and is finalising the signing of Gaston Ramirez. A fast, pacy and proven ‘marquee’ striker is also a major ‘to-do’ area.

ROTHERHAM UNITED

DONE DEALS: Anthony Forde (Walsall).

PRIORITIES: After getting Kirk Broadfoot, Richard Wood and Stephen Kelly to re-sign, Alan Stubbs is now focusing on new recruits and there remains much to do. Anthony Forde is a start, while adding some midfield and forward quality are likely to hog Stubbs’ attentions.

SHEFFIELD UNITED

DONE DEALS: James Wilson (Oldham), Mark Duffy (Burton), Chris Hussey (Bury).

PRIORITIES: Centre-back, even accounting for the arrival of James Wilson, with a bid submitted for MK Dons stopper Kyle McFadzean and another player - with Chris Wilder having stressed that he will switch to alternative targets if there is no further headway this week.

The addition of a targetman striker to play alongside Billy Sharp is another on the ‘to-do-’ list along with a left-sided midfielder.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

DONE DEALS: Steven Fletcher (Sunderland), Charlie Hayford (Spurs), Jordan Thorniley (Everton).

PRIORITIES: Fletcher’s arrival represents one of three or four proven buys that the Owls need to make if they are to get truly serious in their quest for promotion. The stark truth is that more are needed.

The full-back positions remain an issue and another top-class midfield operator wouldn’t go amiss. Don’t think Owls supporters would baulk at Ross McCormack either.
